From Father’s Desk

Dear Parishioners,

Just one more week till the Feast of the celebration of the Dawning of the Light in darkness–the birth of our Savior, Christ the Lord, King of the Universe, in the form of a helpless baby. Have you managed to get glimpses of the miracle through the glitz and commercialization of the “Holidays” which hide Christmas? It’s hard to ignore the special inserts and advertising, and it can be hard not to become disheartened by all the activity which detracts from and hides the message of hope and love which the Lord came to give us.

But be of good cheer: our Lord is the master of bringing the positive from the negative–and he invites you to help him do it through your prayer and witness.

We who carry the light of that child born at Christmas are commissioned to let our brothers and sisters know why those lights shine at Christmas, and also to witness through our lives, and the joy we actively spread at Christmas, that the baby Jesus gave the gift of life through his suffering, death, and resurrection.

Be counter-cultural. Show that the decorations and lights are still testifying to God who humbled himself for our sake. Let the Lord’s glory shine in you.

Pray for your neighbor, our country, and our world.

Love and Peace,
and Merry Christmas!
