From Father’s Desk

Dear Parishioners:

Has your summer flown by? It certainly has for me. I’ve found it to be a beautiful and spiritually refreshing time, and I hope it has been for you as well. One of the places I visited this summer was the Shrine of Knock in County Mayo, Ireland, where Our Lady appeared along with Saint Joseph, Saint John the Evangelist, and Our Lord, who appeared as the Lamb of God on an altar. The anniversary of the apparition is August 21st.

I so appreciate all your prayers and devotion. That love we share in praying for and with each other is what makes our parish special—a true family in Christ. Please continue to pray the Rosary interceding through Our Lady for blessing, healing, and peace. Especially do so on the 21st–this Monday, and I will as well. We banished children of Eve will find our way to the Kingdom through the “New Eve” our Mother Mary. We share in heaven and in the work of the Kingdom, and in joining our prayer to hers–especially in the Holy Rosary–we fulfill our destiny.

Please continue to pray for your parish in your daily Rosary, and offer this prayer on Monday:

Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland, you give hope to your people in time of distress and comfort them in sorrow. You inspire countless pilgrims to pray with confidence to your divine Son, remembering His promise: “Ask and you shall receive, Seek and you shall find.”

Help me to remember that we are all pilgrims on the road to heaven. Fill me with love and concern for my brothers and sisters in Christ, especially those who live with me. Comfort me when I am sick or lonely or depressed. Teach me how to take part ever more reverently in the holy Mass. Pray for me now, and at the hour of my death. Amen.

Love and Peace,
Fr. Liam Quinlan
