From Father’s Desk

Dear Parishioners

In proclaiming the Gospel of the Baptism of the Lord last Sunday, it struck me quite forcefully that in a few short weeks I would be where the events described took place. The site which tradition says was where the Lord was baptized is in the present-day Kingdom of Jordan—and it’s not very much visited. While crowds jostle and pray at an official site on the Israeli side of the Jordan River, the traditional site, where the Jordan no longer flows, is quiet and ill-attended. I will visit it this year, God willing, in early February.

I’d like to invite you to join me in prayer on this pilgrimage to the Holy Land. I’ll begin in the Kingdom of Jordan, then continue into Israel, visiting all the Holy sites having to do with the life or our Lord: Bethlehem, Nazareth, Bethany, Capernaum, and finally Jerusalem!

I will pray for you at all those places: the place of  His birth, of His death, of His resurrection, of His ascension, of His ministry. If you would like me to pray for any particular intentions, [I, of course, will pray for you and your general intentions] as I visit our Lord’s place of birth and ministry, please email me at, or use the space below to write your intention, and leave it in the sacristy for me.

Love and Peace,
Fr. Liam Quinlan
