Saint Augustine Service Award

Saint Augustine Service Award

Your love pierced our heart like an arrow.

~ St. Augustine of Hippo, Confessions IX:2,3

Dear Parishioners,

Each year pastors are asked to select a member of the Parish to receive the Saint Augustine Service Award for outstanding service to the Parish and the Church as a whole in honor of Saint Augustine of Hippo, the patron of our Diocese.

This year I was pleased to nominate Joseph Rainone Jr., and Bishop Caggiano has honored him by awarding him the St. Augustine Medal.

Joseph Rainone does so much in the parish, volunteering to serve our social events (and making delicious treats!). Joseph made his First Holy Communion and Confirmation here at Saint Gabriel, and he has been giving back ever since. His devotion and service are especially shown in our Religious Education program where he prepares our little ones for First Holy Communion. His commitment to humble and loving service mark him as a true Christian witness, and his prayerful devotion is a service to us all.

Joseph received the Saint Augustine Award Saturday, October 17th from Bishop Caggiano at our Cathedral in Bridgeport.Picture1

Please join me offering prayers and good wishes as Joseph receives this honor and recognition from the Parish and the Diocese.

Peace & Love,

Father Liam Quinlan

P.S. Our Annual Parish Appeal is well underway. By now you should have received the letter from me, and an extra envelope can be found in your envelope packet as well. If you have not received the letter, please contact the Rectory. The Annual Parish Appeal helps so much in bridging the gap and covering expenses. Please be as generous as the Lord calls you to be.
