Welcome, Father Olbryś

Please welcome to St. Gabriel Parish our new fulltime parochial vicar, Father Mariusz Olbryś. A 41- year-old native of Poland, he emigrated to this country with his family in 1998, settling right here in Stamford. Fr. Olbryś had early realized a calling to the priesthood, and applied to the Vocation program of the Diocese. He spent four years in formation at St. John Fisher Seminary,  receiving a B.A. in Philosophy from Sacred Heart University. He then was assigned to Theological College, the National Seminary at Catholic University of America in Washington. There he earned a Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree and completed the formation for Sacred Orders. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2007. Fr. Olbryś has served at St. Mary Parish in Ridgefield, St.  Mary/St. Benedict–Our Lady of Montserrat in Stamford while also serving as part-time chaplain at St. Camillus. Next he was assigned to Holy Name of Jesus in Stamford, followed by St. Stephen in Trumbull, and parttime chaplain at St. Joseph Manor. St. Joseph Parish in Shelton, and most recently, at Holy Name of Jesus in Stratford.

Father Olbryś is fluent in Polish and English, and has also learned some Spanish and German.

Father’s favorite things to do are reading and studying foreign languages. He is skilled in computer work. He loves spending time with people and listening to their stories. He looks forward to getting to know the people of St Gabriel as well as the our neighbors at St Cecilia. Please welcome and introduce yourself to Fr. Olbryś.
